Easter fun begins here with a ‘Baby Big Top Circus’, clowns, tricks and lots lots more. Easter will bring the Easter Bunny and traditional competitions like ‘Welly’s’ Easter Egg Hunt, Egg Rolling and Easter Bonnet Parade. Then help celebrate St George’s Day with our ‘Dragon Day’ on the 26th.
May
At the beginning of the month, bring your Mum along for her special day out for Mother’s Day. Ray Prior will be back with his magnificent ‘Birds of Prey’ on the 16th. Half term brings the return of our ‘Clowns in the Park’. Come dressed for the part and play a joke on Mum and Dad. Finally on the 30th/31st, come and see the wonderful ‘Bernese Dogs’ demonstrate their carting and pulling skills.
June
Relive old memories of Wolseley cars with our ‘Wolseley Rally’ weekend on the 6th/7th. Our new ‘Craft and Holistic Fair’, with a wide range of stalls selling home made products and crafts, holistic remedies and readings takes place on the 14th. Bring Dad along for his special day on Father’s Day and finally the ‘Solent Dog Display Team’ will be back for its 2nd year on the 28th, showing the skills of man’s best friend.
July
At the beginning of the month, help us build up to Summer with our fun ‘Caribbean Day’ on the 5th. Anthony Nolan have their sponsored ‘Dragon Boat Race’ on the 12th. If you are up to the challenge, why not enrol? Our 3rd ‘Fairy and Pixie Party’ takes place on the 26th. Dress up and enjoy the magical setting of the Enchanted Forest with party games and food.
August
The Summer Holidays start with a ‘Family Fun Day’ on the 2nd with fun and games for all. On the 9th, come and join in our ‘Family Sports Day’. On the 16th, we are hosting a ‘Reptile Day’. Come along to see, hold and learn about a variety of creatures. In between all these events, join in the fun, with clowns, cowboys and puppet shows; you can even take part if you want!!
September
Back to skool! Just before you do, join us on our ‘Pirates Treasure Hunt’ on the 5th. During the month, we have two sponsored walks taking place with the Meningitis Trust and Heart UK. Why not join in! On the 20th, we finish the Summer with our ‘End of Summer Family Fair’.
October
Halloween fun! Watch our resident clown get up to fun with spooky antics and games, have a go at Apple Dunking and dress the part for a scary fancy dress during our ‘Halloween Weekend’.

Curiouser and Curiouser! Discover the wonderful world of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland with this magical workshop. Join the Mad Hatter and Alice for a perambulation around the Castle, listening to this timeless tale and joining in the action as you go. Learn a poem from a Dormouse and a song from a Mock-Turtle; swim through a sea of tears and run a Caucus-race to dry off; then sit down to partake of a delightful afternoon tea. Get your flamingos and hedgehogs at the ready to face the Queen of Hearts’ croquet challenge – make sure you don’t lose your head! Don’t be late for this very important date and watch out for cats with big fat grins. This musical promenade through Alice’s Wonderland features Karl Daymond, acclaimed opera singer whose work includes radio, television and theatre. Booking is essential. Caldicot Castle’s towers are reputed to be haunted by a number of ghosts. Do you dare to brave the castle in the quiet evening hours and risk meeting the grey lady, the hooded monk or the mischievous poltergeist? Meet Joseph Cobb (deceased) on this light hearted walking tour, taking in the ghosts, sightings and spiritual encounters with the unearthly inhabitants of this ancient site. The Gatehouse’s Banqueting Hall is the centre of much of the reported paranormal activity at the castle and the evening concludes with a two-course candlelit meal in this room. Ghosts not guaranteed! Cosmic Night Skies

Meet Usk Astronomical Society in the Castle's courtyard to marvel at the wonders of the Universe, viewing constellations and other celestial bodies and talking to knowledgeable astronomers. Audiences can enjoy a planetarium show on a trip around the most fascinating objects in the night sky, using a variety of telescopes and specialised projectors to precisely view the heavens.
Christmas in the Parlour

Gather round the piano for a traditional Victorian Christmas in the parlour. Sing along with Victorian ballads, listen to comic songs and classical arias, and enjoy a short poetry reading. Learn about how Queen Victoria and Prince Albert helped to shape Christmas as we celebrate it today, as well as finding out about the older wassailing traditions. With a range of Christmas characters, from Charles Dickens to Dylan Thomas, and Queen Victoria to the Angel Gabriel, there’s fun to be had for all the family. Complimentary mulled wine and minced pies will be served during the interval, a licensed bar will be available.
Victorian Christmas at Caldicot Castle

This popular event returns to the castle for a ninth year with a fun filled programme of music and merriment with seasonal musical sketches, carol-singing and an entertaining activity trail for children. Father Christmas will be in his grotto to give out presents to children and his reindeer will be stabled in the castle grounds between 12 and 3pm resting up before their round-the-world dash. In 1683 there was a national scandal with the Rye House Plot! Come and eavesdrop on the conspirators of the plot.
The Rye House Plot was a plan to assassinate King Charlies II and his brother (and heir to the throne), James, Duke of York.
Rye House, was owned by a well-known Republican and the plan was to conceal a force of 100 men in the grounds of the house and ambush the King and the Duke on their way back to London from the horse races at Newmarket.
